The Last - First Holiday

We've celebrated so many "firsts" these past 11 months and as little Miss's first birthday comes around I'm reminded that although we have had many firsts we have many more yet to come. It seems as though a person's lifetime is filled with them yet after the first year we don't celebrate them as often, or maybe the firsts we continue to have during our life start to become less celebration worthy?

Case and point, I've been driving up and down I87 for 17 years - longer if you count the years I spent as a passenger, yet never in all of those years have I ever been passed on the shoulder of the road. Definitely a first - but definitely not something worth celebrating...had there been a police officer in sight - then it might have been worthy.

So as we put the July 4th holiday behind us and I gear up for my final 7 days of employment at "the Spec" (a first that will be celebration worthy), I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the last "first holiday" that little Miss got to enjoy before her first birthday next month.

Of course she had her outfit all picked out and ready to go but was somewhat irritated to see her big sister BonBon looking rather cute in a similar red, white & blue ensemble...BonBon wasn't impressed either but I think it may have been for different reasons -

But allas, the day would not be ruined because of a waredrobe malfunction...so off to Gammy & Papa's house we went where little Miss got to swing on Papa's (and Kerrie Elizabeth's) rope swing for the first time.

And Mommy finally got to snap a picture of Daddy and his girl (even if it's from my iPhone), as it's not often that Daddy is out from behind the camera these days.

After these fn festivities at Gammy & Papa's - Daddy & Mommy got a night out to watch James Taylor at Tanglewood and we even caught some fireworks on the drive home...an amazing crescent moon last night.

Here's to hoping everyone's July 4th was as wonderful as ours was!
