Adjustment Bureau

With another busy weekend looming I had to take a little time to appreciate the break in the ridiculously hot weather as well as a little time to appreciate the cuteness that is Miss Abbey.  She's been experiencing a little morning meltdown action this past week and with Mommy at a new job with one hell of a commute, I've been experiencing a little afternoon meltdown myself so we're quite the pair. I think I may have been institutionalized after 8+ years at the Spec and I know little Miss is missing the peeps she spent so much time with the first 8 months of her life outside of home.  Where's the Adjustment Bureau when you need the huh?

Thankfully Daddy's around to pick little Miss up from daycare and entertain us both in the evenings. Just like everything else in life, we ladies require a little time to adjust.

So while we're working through our "stranger danger" phase we'll take some time to play in the yard...thankfully we're easily distracted!

Playin Around

Hi there, My name is Abbey and I came to play...so get ready
You want some of this? Huh do ya punk?
I know I'm cute - seriously, you want a piece of me?
Okay, that's all I've got...playing takes it right out of me.
Just me and my dog...fighting for the same toy
Ha - I win!
I look cuter chewing this toy anyway.
Daddy, I have to win...
It's not funny, I can't have people seeing me lose...you need to let me win!
Whew, between BonBon and Daddy I'm beat, but I've got my toy.
Maybe just a little energy left to taunt the dog...
Yup, always enough energy to show BonBon who's boss!

Just another day in Abbey's world. Anyone feel like stopping by to try and wear this kid out? I'd like to bottle up this energy production...We could retire - seriously...where does it come from?

No Goodbyes

It didn't really feel like it was over until this weekend - I think until then I felt like I was on vacation or something but I finally feel like the end of an era has come.  So many amazing people have blessed my life and without GlobalSpec there would be no Michael and I, and no Abbey Jean so here's to all the great things that have come from the last 8+ years - I can only imagine what will happen in the next 8+!

No good party happens without a cocktail :-)
Yes, little Miss was there to share in the festivities, just not the booze!

Since she was eating the furniture we opted to feed her...

Needless to say, she enjoyed her dinner!
Which allowed the grown-ups to enjoy our cocktails...
Then it was playtime and time to meet and greet!

Auntie Amanda can hang out with me anytime!
And, to the couple who founded GlobalSpec - thank you for helping make our lives today what they are. Your vision for a product, your drive to make it a successful business and ultimately your choice in Michael and I as employees has forever changed our lives! Thank you John & Andi!

I'll miss the idea of what GlobalSpec once stood for, the potential it once had, I'll miss the everyday interaction with people I consider extended family but you're all an amazing part of my life that I'll be caring with me always, this is not goodbye...but rather, thank you for giving me so much that I can take with me!

Zero to Hot Mess In...

37 seconds flat, that's the time it takes for my kid to go from clean and cute to holy hot mess cheese head.

Little Miss's first day at her new daycare went very well for her...however, with half her usual nap, the evening at home with Mommy & Daddy did not go as well. Dinner was early, fast and furious resulting in what one could only describe as a catastrophic failure of utensils. Equipped with her hands, a poor sense of direction from hand-to-mouth and a tray full of mac-n-cheese - little Miss set out to decimate her dinner.

I have yet to figure out how something so small makes such a big mess, but I have to say it's a good things she's cute!
Abbey before dinner....
Abbey After Dinner...(this picture does not do it justice) the child had mac-n-cheese in her hair, her ear and in every crack and crevice in between...
After a good bath and some serious scrubbing little Miss was back to her squeaky clean, cute little self.  Too bad she was still over tired and miserable so she went directly to bed at 6:45pm...to fall asleep at 7:45pm...the last few days of daycare have been MUCH better!!

Bugs

I'm not talking about those nasty little blood suckers occupying my backyard, though this year it seems that those bugs should get some kind of award for their sheer viciousness (if the women of Desperate housewives can win an Emmy these blood suckers should get a little notoriety), no I'm talking about our first born little girl, BonBon.  She doesn't get the same kind of "props" that she used to pre-Abbey so I find it necessary every now and again to show her a little literary love.
Being my "first born" I still have a love for this little four legged bundle of furry joy that still verges on unhealthy pet love.  I find myself shopping for dog stuff just as frequently as I shop for baby stuff which means I should be working a second job just so I can buy the occasional Old Navy $1 lip-flops for myself! Amongst all the pictures of little Miss, Daddy also still manages to capture his saddle bag having, pouty lipped princess we loving refer to as "bugs"...amongst other things.

Have I mentioned just how much I love his damn dog? This is the same dog that, when sick, will lay beside you for days on end only getting up to pee when she knows you're fast asleep. While I was pregnant, she would lay in my lap or next to my lap once the bump got too big, and upon being kicked by the little nudger, aka Abbey, would sign, shift her weight and go right back to sleep.
I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if we weren't certain we knew better.  They fight for honor at the first challenge, make love with no moral restraint, and they do not for all their marvelous instincts appear to know about death.  Being such wonderfully uncomplicated beings, they need us to do their worrying.  ~George Bird Evans, Troubles with Bird Dogs

LIttle Miss is Baptized

I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted what I asked of Him. -- Samuel 1:27

To say that little Miss was happy to be baptized might be an understatement...Her smile was infectious this past Sunday while she celebrated her big day with her biggest fans.  She looked like the little princess she is and made Mommy well up when I saw her all dressed up. Gammy & Papa supplied the cultured pearl earrings and Mommy & Daddy supplied the diamonds - let's just say she was "blinged out."

Surrounded by those who love her and most importantly those who will support her through this life whether it be spiritually, emotionally, and/or financially (any takers?), she smiled and babbled through the service making the rest of us snicker when we should have had our heads bowed in prayer...I know the good lord will understand - she's just too irresistible!!

Thanks to everyone who was there to celebrate and share this special day with us.  So here's to our little miracle, a true blessing in so many ways - some of my favorite pics...

You are the One who put me together inside my mother's body, and I praise You because of the wonderful way You created me. Everything You do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt. -- Psalm 139:13-14
