One illness down, a lifetime more yet to worry about.
So we've made it through the storm, minus RSV, pneumonia, pertussis, croup or the general creeping crud that I lovingly refer to as the "daycare plague." Little Miss is feeling quite a bit better, still hacking like a TB patient but for the most part the wheezing and sleepless nights have gone. Tonight Michael & I will fall into bed with a whoosh and a sigh and hope for 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep before our little miracle in the other room wakes.
I give credit to my fellow mom's who have dealt with undiagnosed, untreatable, and sometimes unknown illnesses that have inflicted their little ones...especially those that seemed never ending. So to all all the first time moms who have survived sleepless nights, feelings of inadequacy, raw uncontrollable emotion, topped off with an overwhelming drowning feeling (and to the men who support, love, tolerate, and pick up our pieces), I say...Congratulations Parents!! Now can we all get together, find a baby sitter for a night and half of the following day, and get our drink on? I think we've earned it.
We have healthy, happy (okay generally happy), amazing little people in our lives who single-handedly, with just a smile, giggle, wiggle, roll, or babble have melted our hearts and turned our lives upside down. We are officially on the wildest ride of our lives and my friends, I hope you have all buckled your safety belts, put your tray tables in their full and upright positions because this ride has only just begun!
I truly look forward to continuing this journey with my partner, best friend and teammate in parenthood, Michael as well as our family who continue to love us, support us, and above all, smother little Miss with love...and to all our friends who fill our lives with love, laughter and the additional support new parents always need - the words thank you are not enough but I know that friends & family don't need thank you's to do what they do so I'll say it anyway - Thank you.
Good night little Miss...you sleep the same now as you did when you were just days old and I will never tire of watching you sleep...
This blog was started in 2009 at the begining of my journey to motherhood. It was a testament to the journey my husband I were taking to create a life. It has become Abbey's Story. My hope is that someday she will be able to read this and know that she has brought a joy to this world, the likes of which her father and I could never have known.

First Time For Everything...
Well little one is now 6 months old and has her first official virus so we'll be postponing her 6 month shots awhile. We've had an eventful end to the week and weekend. With our first incident report from daycare, the first time I truly wanted to pull her out of daycare since that first week back to work, the first time I wanted to quit my job and be a stay at home mom...wait, not the first time I wanted to quit my job but everything else is a first...
It started Tuesday night during my CEO's anal "All Hands Meeting" - held every year at the famous Desmond hotel, where GlobalSpec goes to escape the cold...inside joke... Anyway, that's when we got the "incident report" from daycare. Little Miss had her first mishap at daycare banging that hard head of hers on a toy - no blood, no foul...
From there however, Daddy found little Miss crying and being held by a daycare employee who decided to cough on her which ultimately has lead to bronchialitis and a wheezy, coughing, albuterol taking little girl who is less than her usual perky self. After two trips to the doctor, Friday and Saturday we have a full day of drugs in her and hope that in a day or so that she'll be breathing easier but her sleeping and eating habits have taken a hit = Mommy & Daddy's sleeping and eating habits have also taken a hit.
Tomorrow is Presidents Day and daycare is closed so after our 8:30am doctor's appointment we'll be headed to Gammy & Papa's house for some TLC and spoiling for the day. Fingers crossed we're healthier and happier than we were today because otherwise they're going to have their loving hands full of a squirming, crying, fussing, grumple-puss...and they'll love her anyway, that's the great thing about grandparents!
Little Miss's stats for her 6 month birthday are as follows: Height: 27 & 1/4" - 94% and Weight: 18lbs - 86% Which hopefully means that she's growing taller and less round...bye, bye meat bracelets!! Her hair is continuing to fill in and her eyes remain light, not blue but more green/hazel/tawny...still too early to tell what color they'll ultimately be but right now they're beautiful.
Once we get out of the sickness funk we'll be taking more pictures but for now Gammy, you'll need to go back and look at old posts! For now Mommy is going to bed to try and sleep away the dark circles!

Fabulous At Every Age
The following pictures were taken for our first Valentine's Day to commemorate just how cute we are...and Abbey's future BFF, Nik provided the fabulous zebra print high heels. (Mom's, google "heelarious" and you'll be able to see the complete line)
God Mother Michele refers to little Miss's wrists as her "meat bracelets" which is now my favorite all time saying in the world!!

First pair of heels worn, 6 months old - Fabulous
A shoe collection to put Carrie Bradshaw's to shame - Inspiring
Daddy's credit card maxed out at Jimmy Choo - Inevitable
Looking fabulous at any age - Priceless

Happy Valentine's Day
Our little Love Bug's first Valentine's Day (pre-Valentines...cause Monday as V-Day sucks) was celebrated with Gammy & Papa who spoiled her rotten - as per usual! Clad in her "Daddy Adores Me" t-shirt she laughed and smiled the morning away while Gammy & Papa watched in wonder at their little one's continued growth spurts.
Our Valentine dove into her present, loving the wrapping as much as she loved her brand new Vermont Teddy Bear from Gammy & Papa. They are so super cute together which is why Daddy took a number of adorable pictures for us to remember every moment.

Is this for me?
Gammy & Papa, thank you I love my card - it has sparkles on it!
Paper, paper's fun!
Can't I just play with the ribbon?
Really, she's mine?
I love her so much!! She has the same name as I do!!
I want to kiss her, and pet her, and love her...
Officially my new BFF!!
And this is how we sit up
And this is how we look at the camera and act surprised!
These two were meant for each other! Happy early Valentines Day Little Miss!

Happy 1/2 Year Birthday Little Miss
Today we celebrated your first half year of life and oh what an amazing 6 months it has been! Daddy and I have watched as you've grown from a peanut sized 6lb 14oz miracle to the nearly 20lb beautiful, bouncing baby girl you are now! From holding you, bathing you, to feeding you we worried so in those early weeks, were we doing everything right?
You've come so far and although we may not have done everything right according to the books and professionals, you're healthy, happy and growing at record breaking speed! We've enjoyed every minute with you, every sleepless night, every poopy diaper, every smile, giggle, wiggle...you name, it we love it!
Your Daddy and I have watched in wonder as you smiled for the first time, rolled over for the first time, when your feet finally touched the floor under your jumperoo, and as the months fly by us we'll continue to watch in wonder at all the new and amazing things you're sure to accomplish!
You continue to be the biggest blessing we will ever receive. Happy 1/2 Year Birthday Baby Girl! 6 more months and we'll be celebrating with cake versus carrots!
